What I'm looking for is an alternative such that I will be able to tap the cable with power on and be able to get a sample or an additional feed without having to power down. Also if I don't need to cut the main cable, then I also do not need to buy additional connectors. Which results in a lower cost for my customers. The frequency of operation of these taps are 700 - 846MHz 846 - 960 MHz 1700 - 1990 MHz and 2100 -2400MHz the coupling loss for this device should typically be 10dB although a 6dB and 15 dB would be welcomed.The preferred device would be broad-banded ideally from 700 - 2200MHz but at least to1990 MHz. and if the coupling loss varies (not too much) with frequency that would be acceptable as well.How it works is that a small hole (1/4") is made in the outer jacket and solid shield of the coax cable and then the tap is mechanically attached to the cable and contact is made with the center conductor via a "spring loaded pin". Care must be taken to prevent the center pin from coming in contact with the outer shield. This pin connects to the center of the TYPE N female connector.
