It is actually suspended by an impressive electronically controlled magnetic system. This model has a huge highly detailed 20cm antique style globe and a stylish copper coloured metal frame. The magnetic head above the globe contains an electro magnet and a magnetic field sensor, and the frame base accommodates the micro-processor and the electronic control components. The magnetic field sensor records the magnetic field generated by permanent magnets in the globe sphere, and transmits this to the computer. The computer evaluates this data 16,000 times a second and controls the electronic magnets accordingly, accurately moving the globe sphere upwards or downwards.
